Grades K-6, Grades 6-8

In partnership with Bowling Green State University, Perkins Local Schools and Sandusky City Schools, the iEvolve with STEM project seeks to increase student motivation and engagement through the integration of Citizen Science Research into classroom instruction across the curriculum. This video outlines research projects in which students in grades 3-8 and their teachers are actively involved. Projects include pollinator studies, FrogWatch USA, rain garden monitoring for soil infiltration, and water quality studies of local streams and the Sandusky Bay. Projects are led by scientists from BGSU’s Marine and Herpetology Labs, the Ohio State University’s Stone Lab, the Toledo Zoo, and Erie Soil and Water Conservation District. Through their experiences in the iEvolve with STEM project, students are learning science by participating in real science research that addresses issues that are important to their local and regional communities.
