In midsummer 2016, one hundred and seventy-five language workers from across the world came to the University of Alaska FairbanksĀ to share knowledge, insights and experiences about working with languages. For two intensive weeks, they participated as learners and teachers in workshops that ranged from language documentation to technical skills to strategies for language revitalization. A smaller group stayed on for three more weeks to work with speakers of endangered indigenous languages andĀ document their knowledge as well as work with archival materials.
