Seeing Scientifically: Scaffolding scientific observation in a museum setting

NSF Awards: 1514612

2018 (see original presentation & discussion)

Informal / multi-age

The goal of Seeing Scientifically is to prototype an innovative microscope exhibit in a science museum that helps visitors in scientific observation of live, dynamic specimens and their biological processes.  By adapting and deploying existing computational imaging techniques, the project aims to encourage and support museum visitors in observing scientifically, i.e., asking productive questions, interpreting image-rich information, and making inferences from visual evidence that increasingly characterizes current biological research.
