Rialto Integrating Science Mathematics and Related Technologies

2017 (see original presentation & discussion)

Grades K-6, Grades 6-8

RiSMART: Rialto integrating Science Mathematics and Related Technologies is a partnership driven project between Rialto USD, Cal Poly Pomona, members of business, civics, and industry in a suburban Southern California community.  "Working Together" illustrates how community-based partnerships build a stronger community of science teaching and learning.  This video highlights how Next Generation Science Standards(NGSS), Common Core (CCSS), and Project-Based Learning (PBL) can build a bridge between school and community.  Seamlessly weaving together topics of local interest with district needs and addressing concerns of stakeholders while utilizing expertise K-16 invigorates learning for all.  The intentional development of community focused project based learning opportunities energizes teachers, engages students and builds economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable communities.
